In una superficie di circa un ettaro -circondato da boschi alternati a spazi aperti- sono presenti specie erbacee di tutto il territorio, la cui convivenza \u00e8 resa possibile grazie alle particolari condizioni geo-morfologiche e pedo-climatiche dell\u2019area in cui l\u2019Orto Botanico si trova inserito. Si conservano degli endemismi -specie che hanno assunto nell\u2019evoluzione caratteristiche esclusive della zona in cui vegetano- piante rare e nuove scoperte per la tassonomia toscana e locale. L\u2019idea, nata dalla collaborazione con il prof. Augusto De Bellis e con l\u2019Associazione La Pera Picci\u00f2la, \u00e8 volta allo scopo di mantenere le specie pi\u00f9 a rischio di estinzione dal loro ambiente naturale, in modo da poter studiare un loro eventuale reinserimento. Dal 2018 L\u2019Orto Botanico di Fonte Magr\u00eca \u00e8 Rifugio Naturalistico riconosciuto dal Comitato Parchi Italia coordinato dal Prof Franco Tassi. Al progetto scientifico si associano attivit\u00e0 didattiche e visite guidate per scuole e turisti i quali -nel percorso di 800 metri- potranno fare incontri insoliti con la biodiversit\u00e0 del Monte Amiata, una delle sue pi\u00f9 grandi risorse. Le specie presenti sono intorno a 300, munite di cartellino descrittivo completo delle informazioni essenziali.
